The Hobart College basketball team is seeded fifth in the 49th annual Wendy's College Classic. The Statesmen will play No. 4 Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. at Brockport.
Rochester is the top seed and will play No. 8 Brockport. No. 2 Geneseo will take on No. 7 Nazareth and No. 3 St. John Fisher will face No. 6 RIT.
After winning the Classic during the 2011-12 season and returning to the title game a year later, Hobart finished sixth in the 2013 tournament, losing its opener to Rochester, rebounding with a win over Nazareth before falling in the fifth place game to Geneseo.
The 2014-15 Statesmen are 2-0 following wins over Ithaca and Buffalo State. Sophomore guard
Thomas Campion leads four Hobart players averaging double digits in the scoring column at 14.5 ppg. Junior forward
Jake Rayburn is contributing 12.5 ppg and a team-high 7.5 rpg. Senior guard
Connor Rehbaum adds 12.5 ppg and 7.0 rpg. Senior guard
Andrew Hoy is producing 11.0 ppg, 6.5 rpg, and 3.0 apg.
This will be the 40th meeting between Hobart and Roberts Wesleyan with the Statesmen holding a 29-10 series lead. Hobart won the most recent game against the Division II Redhawks, 81-80, in the 2012 Wendy's College Classic. Prior to that, Roberts Wesleyan had won five in a row over the Statesmen.
Brockport defeated Roberts Wesleyan 81-52 in last season's Wendy's College Classic championship game.
