GENESEO, N.Y.—The Hobart College basketball team led from the opening basket to the final buzzer in a 68-59 victory over the Rochester Institute of Technology in the seventh place game of the Wendy's College Classic. Senior guard
Andrew Hoy led the Statesmen with a game-high 17 points.
Hoy was 5-of-10 shooting with three 3-pointers and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. He also handed out three assists. Junior
Jake Rayburn scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. Senior
Trey Blanding added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Sophomore
Thomas Campion added a game-high four steals.
Hobart (3-2) shot 37 percent from the floor with eight 3-pointers and made 14-of-16 free throws.
The Tigers got 12 points and nine rebounds from Mitch Herman. Joe Stortini contributed 11 points and J.P. Reagan had nine points and nine rebounds.
RIT (5-3) shot 36 percent from the floor with 11 3-pointers, but struggled at the line, making just 6-of-13.

Michael LaValle made the first of his three 3-pointers to open the game's scoring and kick off an 11-4 Hobart run. Hoy made a pair of free throws at the 7:54 mark to give the Statesmen a 25-15 lead. RIT was able to cut its deficit to two, twice around the 5:00 mark of the half, but each time Hobart answered and took a 32-27 lead into the break.
The Statesmen charged out of the gate in the second half, opening with a 19-5 run. Hoy had eight points during the surge, including a pair of 3-pointers. RIT bounced back with a 19-6 run to get back within six, but Hobart pushed its lead back into double digits with seven straight points to secure the win.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 10, when they visit the University of Rochester. Tipoff at the Louis Alexander Palestra is at 7 p.m.
