Hobart hockey welcomes back alumni this weekend

The Hobart College hockey team will host Elmira on Saturday, Feb. 8 at The Cooler at 7 p.m. The Statesmen will also welcome back hockey alumni for this year's alumni weekend.

The weekend features an alumni game at The Cooler at 3 p.m., on Saturday, as well as social gatherings for alums making the trip back to Geneva. The current Statesmen will then take on the Soaring Eagles for an ECAC West contest at 7 p.m. Alums are asked to register by Wednesday, Feb. 5, and can do so online here. Hobart has posted an 11-5-4 overall record and is now 5-2-3 in the ECAC West. Sophomore Mac Olson leads the team with 21 points on 11 goals and 10 assists. He ranks second in the conference in goals and tied for fifth in points.  Junior Ryan Michel has produced a team-high 13 assists, which puts him tied for sixth in the league. Sophomore Lino Chimienti has played the majority of minutes in goal and is sporting a 2.39 goals against average and a .926 save percentage. The Statesmen sit atop the ECAC West in scoring defense and on the penalty kill.  Hobart is allowing an average of just 2.40 goals per game and the Statesmen have killed 87 of their opponents 101 power-play attempts this season (86.1 percent).

Elmira is 12-8-0 overall and 7-3-0 in conference play. The Soaring Eagles sit in first place in the conference with 14 points, just one point ahead of the Statesmen and Utica who are tied for second. Josh Burnell leads Elmira with 27 points on 13 goals and 14 assists. Sal Magliocco has played the majority of minutes in goal and is sporting a 3.21 goals against average and a .911 save percentage this season.
