4 Hobart harriers earn academic honors

Hobart College junior Stephen Klementowski and seniors Joshua Moss, Nick Schmidt and Wes Traub each earned a spot on the 2013 Liberty League All-Academic team.

To be considered for all-academic honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average.

A computer science major, Klementowski ran in three races this fall. He recorded his best 8-kilometer time of the season, 32:41, at the Liberty League Championship. Klementowski has run in 15 meets at Hobart and has been named to the all-academic team for the last two years in a row.

Moss ran in six meets this year. At the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational, he crossed the finish line in 36:12.1 to notch his best 8k time of the year. Moss earned all-academic honors for the second year in a row and graduated from Hobart with a bachelor's degree in physics and chemistry in May. He ran in 22 meets in his Hobart career.

A co-captain, Schmidt ran in all 10 races in 2013. He logged a season-best 8k time of 28:45 at the Liberty League Championship. It was his best 8k time since his rookie season. Schmidt earned a spot on the all-academic squad for the second year in a row. He ran in 40 meets in his time at Hobart and graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in computer science.

Traub also ran in all 10 races this fall. He posted a season-best 8k of 28:26.97 at the ECAC Championship. Traub finished in 15th place at the Hobart Invitational, helping his team to third place overall. He was the first Statesman to cross the line at the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational. Traub ran in 20 career meets and earned a spot on the all-academic team for the second time in his career. He graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in international relations.

Hobart's best finishes of 2013 came at its own Hobart Invitational, where the Statesmen took third and at the SUNYIT Invitational and the CCOC Championship, where they claimed sixth place. Hobart finished seventh in the Liberty League Championship.
