Box Score In the season opener for each team, No. 17 Brandeis defeated the Hobart College soccer team 5-0 in the Keene State College Soccer Classic played this afternoon in Keene, New Hampshire.

After a scoreless first half, the Judges took control in the second. Michael Soboff scored first in the 61st minute. Tyler Savonen made it 2-0 off an assist from Josh Ocel just 4:26 later. Soboff struck again in the 75th minute to give Brandeis a 3-0 lead. In the 78th minute Patrick Flahive found the back of the net, and Marcello Brociner scored with eight seconds to go for the final.

Mike Lucas played the first 45 minutes in goal for the Statesmen and made six saves. Junior
Tyler Serafine played the second half and made three saves. Joe Graffy played the entire match in goal for the Judges and stopped one shot. The Judges finished with a 22-2 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corners.

The Statesmen will be back in action tomorrow, Aug. 31, when they take on Lasell in their second game of the Keene State Soccer Classic at 12:30 p.m.
