Box Score The Hobart College soccer team picked up its first victory of the season, downing Lasell 5-0 in its second game of the 2014 Keene State College Soccer Classic in Keene, New Hampshire this afternoon.
The Statesmen are now 1-1 overall while the Lasers fall to 0-2 this year. Sophomore
DJ Clark scored two goals for Hobart. Junior
Marco Ronning notched three assists and first-year
Zach Poretz tallied two assists.
Hobart got on the scoreboard early with a goal by sophomore Joseph Busuttil off assists from first-year
Joseph Escamilla and Ronning. In the 31st minute, Clark notched his first goal of the afternoon. It came off a corner kick and Ronning once again set up the play. First-year
Adrian Colmenares logged his first collegiate goal after a pass from Poretz in the 55th minute to extend the Statesmen's lead to 3-0. In the 61st minute, it was first-year
Patrick Schulz's turn to record his first collegiate goal. Poretz and Ronning earned the assists. Clark struck again in the 78th minute for the final.
Hobart finished with a 6-0 advantage in corners and a 14-6 edge in shots. Senior
Mike Lucas played the opening 58:05 in goal and made one save for Hobart. Junior
Tyler Serafine came in for 27:21 and notched three saves and first-year
Morgan Sawyer made his first collegiate appearance for the final 4:34. Miguel Colmenares played the entire 90 minutes in goal for the Lasers and stopped three shots.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they host Plattsburgh for another non-conference game on Cozzens Field at 2 p.m.
