Senior Madeline Buckley scored twice for William Smith, sophomore Brie Ruane netted a goal and first-year Lauren Kogelmann chipped in with an assist. First-year goalie Nicole McGlinchy registered two saves.

Sophomore Mersadiz Hayes tallied Cortland's goal with junior Jenny Angione assisting on the score. Sophomore goalie Rachel Axt made five saves and allowed three goals in 72 minutes, 10 seconds before giving way to sophomore Tyler Julian, who stopped one shot over the final 17:50.

Buckley gave the Herons a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when her bending shot from 20 yards spun through Axt's hands for her first goal of the season. Hayes tied the game in the 55th minute, one-timing a loose ball at the top of the box into the upper left corner.

Buckley answered with the game-winner in the 63rd minute. After a Cortland foul, Buckley sent a 20-yard free kick over Axt, off the crossbar and over the goal line. Ruane added an insurance goal in the 72nd minute when she tucked a rebound shot inside the right post after Axt made an initial save on Kogelmann's header at the left post.
