Hobart improves to 4-2-0, while the Pioneers fall to 2-2-2 this season. The Statesmen have won all 29 meetings with Utica, dating back to 1969. Senior goalie
Mike Lucas played the opening 61:57 in goal for the Statesmen and stopped the only shot he faced. Junior
Tyler Serafine came in for the final 28:03 and made two saves. It was the fourth shutout of the season for Hobart.

Just 10:04 into the match, Poretz logged his first collegiate goal. On the Statesmen's fourth corner of the game, Ronning sent the ball into the box to find Poretz fight out in front. He tapped it just inside the right post. In the 39th minute, first-year
Adrian Colmenares made it 2-0. As the Pioneers were trying to clear the ball out of the box, it bounced off a defender and Colmenares was there to collect the rebound and fire his shot into the back of the net from about 18 yards out.

Oddmund Nesbakk came inches away from scoring in the 51st minute, when he banged a shot after a corner off the left post. In the 57th minute, Ronning capitalized on a Hobart free kick from just outside of the box to make it 3-0. Ronning took the kick immediately after the whistle, catching the Utica defense off guard. Ronning now leads the Statesmen with seven points on a goal and five assists. In the 88th minute, senior
Ryan Farrell logged his first goal of the season for the final margin. Poretz pushed a pass across the front of the goal to Farrell, who tapped in a low shot just under the diving Pioneer goalie.

Utica's best scoring chance came with 15:21 left in the game. Gustaf Petersen headed the ball towards the goal from right out in front, but Serafine was there to make the stop. The Pioneers also earned two corners in the final minutes, but both attempts were quickly cleared out by the Statesmen defense.

Hobart finished with a 19-3 advantage in shots and an 11-3 lead in corners. David Abdou played all 90 minutes in goal for Utica and recorded six saves.

The Statesmen will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they travel to take on Geneseo in another non-league game at 12 p.m.
