Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.--Seven different Herons scored as the No. 23 William Smith soccer team cruised to an 8-0 win over Pitt-Bradford in a non-league game played on Cozzens Field this afternoon. Sophomore
Kara Shue led the Herons with a goal and three assists.

The three assists are the most by a Heron since Johanna Murphy logged three assists against Clarkson on Sept. 24, 2005. William Smith's eight goals are also the most since the Herons scored seven in that same game against the Golden Knights. With her five points today, Shue now leads William Smith with nine points on two goals and five assists this season. The Herons improve to 5-2-0 this season, while Pitt-Bradford falls to 6-2-0.

Nicole McGlinchy played the opening 45 minutes in goal for William Smith, and stopped the only shot she faced. Junior

William Smith controlled the pace of the game right from the start, scoring just 64 seconds in. Longo scored on a header after a pass from Shue to make it 1-0. In the 20th minute, Ruane found the back of the net for her first goal of the day off an assist from senior
Brenna Kincaid. In the 28th minute, Shue logged an unassisted tally to make it 3-0. Senior
MaryClaire Pelletier notched her first goal of the season to stretch the Heron lead to 4-0 in the 34th minute. Shue set up Pelletier's goal as well as first-year
Ella McMackin's first goal of the season which came just 3:11 later to give William Smith a 5-0 advantage at halftime.

In the 51st minute, Longo pushed a pass from the top of the box to senior
Madeline Buckley who was streaking in and sent a low shot into the back of the net to make it 6-0. First-year
Kate Spiegel recorded her first collegiate goal in the 68th minute. She blasted a shot from about 25 yards out, that banged off the crossbar and bounced over the goal line. Ruane capped the scoring with her second goal of the day in the 86th minute off an assist from senior
Caitlyn Mitchell.

William Smith finished with a 36-4 advantage in shots and a 12-0 lead in corners. Sarah Dailey played 82:08 in goal for the Panthers and made 11 saves. Brooke Redfern came in for the final 7:52.

It's the third straight shutout for the Herons who have logged a total of four shutouts this season. Â William Smith will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 27, when it opens Liberty League play against St. Lawrence on Cozzens Field at 3 p.m.
