When the sixth-ranked William Smith College field hockey team takes the field Saturday afternoon against Cortland, they will be wearing pink jerseys instead of their traditional green in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
Prior to the start of Saturday's game, the Herons will make a donation to Embrace Your Sisters. EYS' treasurer Linda Goodman will be on hand to receive the check as part of a pregame ceremony. William Smith game management staff collect donation from fans.
EYS is a not-for-profit charity serving Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, and Yates Counties. It provides people diagnosed with breast cancer with short-term emergency financial assistance. EYS helps ease the difficulty of mounting medical expenses as well as helping make ends meet when people are unable to work due to illness or treatment.
