The Skidmore College men's soccer team scored in the 107th minute to edge visiting Hobart College 1-0 in a Liberty League match played in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., this afternoon. The Statesmen are now 6-2-2 overall and 0-1-2 in conference play, while the Thoroughbreds are 7-2-0 and 3-0-0 in the league.
Both teams battled through 90 minutes of regulation, but were unable to score a goal. Hobart posted a 2-1 advantage in shots in the first overtime. With just 3:55 remaining in the second overtime period, Tim Sullivan found the back of the net for Skidmore. Ben Poole set up the play. Today's game was the second straight double overtime match for Hobart.
The Statesmen finished with a 15-13 edge in shots. Each team logged six corners. Senior goalie
Tyler Serafine played all 106:05 in goal for Hobart and made two saves. He saw his shutout streak that began back on Sept. 12 end at 522:49 Eli Kisselbach finished with 10 saves in goal for Skidmore.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Nazareth for a non-league game at 4:30 p.m.
