BUFFALO, N.Y.—The Buffalo State College men's basketball team shot 60 percent from the floor and 59 percent from 3-point range to hand Hobart College its first loss of the season 98-78 tonight. The Bengals' Kevin Marmolejos broke the school record with 10 3-pointers made on the way to a game-high 32 points.

Harrison DeMaira led the Statesmen in scoring. For the third consecutive game, Lucas led Hobart with 23 points. He did all of his scoring in the first half on 8-of-13 shooting with a 3-pointer and 6-of-7 at the free throw line. McKinless added 15 points that included 3-of-5 shooting from 3-point range. DeMaira also made three 3s, finishing with 11 points. Lucas and McKinless shared team-high honors with three steals apiece.

Hobart (3-1) shot 45 percent from the floor, 44 percent from 3-point range, and 75 percent at the free throw line.

Marmolejos netted 17 points in the first half, canning 5-of-7 from deep. He didn't cool off after the break, again going 5-of-7 behind the arc. Mike Henry, Jordan Chateau, Nico McLean, and Dominic Grayer added 12, 11, 10, and 10 points, respectively. Chateau was also the game's leading rebounder, grabbing 10 caroms to lead the Bengals to a 37-26 advantage on the glass.

Buffalo State never trailed in the contest, jumping out to a 15-4 lead less than seven minutes into the game. Marmolejos made all five of his first half 3-pointers in the opening run. Hobart got within eight twice in the run up to halftime, first on a layup by Lucas at the 6:19 mark and then with 4:06 left on a 3-pointer by
Colin Dougherty, but couldn't close the gap any further.

Buffalo State led by as many as 15 in the first half on the way to a 43-32 lead at halftime.

The Bengals opened the second half on a 9-0 run and never looked back.

Hobart will be back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 2, when it hosts an opening round doubleheader of the Wendy's College Classic. The Statesmen will play in the night cap at 8 p.m. The first game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m.
