CLINTON, N.Y.—Hobart College first-year
Colin Dougherty scored a season-high 23 points, but Hamilton College shot 55 percent from the floor in the second half, pulling away for an 80-65 non-conference win in Scott Field House tonight.

Dougherty's game-high scoring effort came on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor and a perfect 9-for-9 effort at the free throw line. It's the third time this season Dougherty has been perfect at the line with nine or more attempts. He was joined in double figures by classmate
Jamal Lucas and sophomore
Thomas Campion, who produced 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Continentals' scoring came from just six players, five of whom reached double digits. Jack Donnelly hit six 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 20 points. Andrew Groll recorded a double-double on 19 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Peter Hoffman, Jack Dwyer, and Kyle Pittman contributed 16, 12, and 11 points, respectively. Dwyer also handed out a game-high eight assists.

A 9-0 run capped by a 3-pointer from first-year
Sean McKinless helped Hobart build it largest lead of the game, 26-20 with five and a half minutes to go in the first half. Hamilton countered with a 15-3 run to end the half with a 35-29 lead. Groll and Donnelly both scored five points in the surge.

The Continentals shot 46 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range. The Statesmen shot just 38 percent, making 2-of-8 from deep.

Hobart used an 8-0 run early in the second half to reclaim the lead. Dougherty got the run started, making two shots at the line. First-year
Cort Williams followed with a traditional 3-point play that was followed up by deep 3 by McKinless for a 48-44 lead with 13:07 remaining.

Hamilton struck back with 14 unanswered points that built a 58-48 lead. Campion ended Hobart's four-minute-long scoring drought to make it an 8-point game, but back-to-back 3-pointers by Hoffman and Dwyer pushed the lead back into double digits for good.

The Statesmen improved their shooting in the second half, making 41 percent from the floor (5-8 3FG), but the Continentals upped their effort as well, making 55 percent of their shots (6-10 3FG).

The game was the final contest of 2015 for Hobart (4-4). The Statesmen will begin the new year with their first Liberty League game of the season. Hobart will visit Rensselaer at 4 p.m. on Jan. 2.
