ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The College at Brockport defeated William Smith College 67-53 in the consolation semifinals of the 32nd annual Wendy's College Classic in Roberts Wesleyan's Voller Athletic Center tonight.
The Herons faced a 12-point deficit early in the second quarter, but scored 11 straight points in less than four minutes to get within one. Sophomore
Kendra Quinn-Moultrie kick-started the run with a 3-pointer. The Golden Eagles held onto the lead, however, using a 10-2 run to carry a 35-26 lead into halftime.
Brockport came out of the break on fire, shooting 7-of-13 from the floor in the third quarter. William Smith wasn't able to keep pace, connecting on just 3-of-11 shots from the floor. The shooting disparity allowed the Golden Eagles to open up a 61-36 lead heading into the final frame.
The Herons were able to turn the tables over the final 10 minutes, making 7-of-16 from the floor while holding Brockport to 1-of-12 shooting, but the 17-6 run was too little, too late.

Mia Morrison led her team with 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Quinn-Moultrie chipped in 11 points and six rebounds off the bench. Junior
Melanie Patterson contributed 10 points and six boards.
Gabrielle Eure pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds to go with eight points. The Herons had a 53-42 rebounding advantage that converted into a 16-11 edge in second chance points.
William Smith shot 32 percent from the floor and struggled behind the arc (1-of-13) and at the line (8-of-18).
Olivia Suhr led three Brockport players in double figures with a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds. Hannah Spencer contributed 13 points and Faith Welch had 10 points, a game-high seven assists, and four steals.
The Golden Eagles shot 34 percent from the floor, 33 percent from long range, and 89 percent at the free throw line. Brockport had just one fewer turnover than the Herons, but managed a 17-9 advantage in points off turnovers.
William Smith (1-5) will play Nazareth in the seventh place game of the Wendy's College Classic at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at SUNY Geneseo. Brockport (3-1) will play RIT in the fifth place game on Saturday at Geneseo at 3 p.m.
