POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—The Hobart College basketball team dug itself out of a 17-point first half deficit, but expended too much energy in its rally, falling 65-63 at Vassar College this afternoon. Senior
Connor Rehbaum led all scorers with 22 points for the Statesmen.

In a game of wild swings of momentum, Vassar made the first push, using a 16-2 run halfway through the first half to build a 28-11 lead with 7:12 left. Alex Snyder and Spencer Einhorn led the way with 6 points apiece for the Brewers. Snyder finished the game with 13 points, a game-high eight rebounds, and a game-high eight assists. Einhorn added 11 points.

Andrew Hoy (11 points) ended the Hobart scoring drought that stretch out over three and a half minutes with a 3-pointer that kick-started the game's next big run. From Hoy's triple to junior
Michael LaValle's 3-pointer just before the halftime horn, the Statesmen outscored Vassar 20-3, sending the teams into the locker room tied at 31.

Rehbaum led all scorers with 13 points at the intermission. Today's effort raised his career scoring total to 1,113 and moved him from 20th on Hobart's all-time list to No. 16. He passed
Joe Gibbons '14 (1,092), Mike DeMaria '90 (1,093), Colby Feane '06 (1,101), and Mike Manning '07 (1,112). Next up is No. 15 John Grazioli '08 and his 1,143 points.

Hobart led by as many as 5 in the first five minutes of the second half, but then the Brewers rattled off 18 consecutive points to build a 57-44 lead. Tony Caletti led the charge with 6 of his 9 points in the game.

The Statesmen refused to give up their eight-game winning streak without a fight, outscoring Vassar 19-8 down the stretch. Sophomore
Thomas Campion closed out the day's scoring with a 3-pointer with just one second remaining. Sophomore
Domonique Petty-Fernander scored 6 of his career-high 10 points in the game's final three minutes.

Offensively, Hobart shot 40 percent from the floor, 39 percent from deep, and 60 percent at the line, all more or less the team's season average. Senior
Trey Blanding had a career-high five steals to go with 9 points and seven assists.

When the Brewers were able to get shots off (they committed 17 turnovers), they shot the ball very well, connecting on 51 percent from the floor, 48 percent from 3-point range, and 79 percent from the free throw line. Curtis Smith led the home team on Senior Day with 18 points.

Hobart will play its final regular season home game on Wednesday, Feb. 18, when the Statesmen host RIT at 8 p.m. in Bristol Gym.
