WASHINGTON, D.C.—Sophomore goalie
Jackson Brown made a career-high 18 saves, but the Hobart College lacrosse team dropped a 15-10 decision at Georgetown University this afternoon.

Brown faced heavy pressure all day as the Hoyas took at least 12 shots in each quarter, finishing with a 51- 31 shot advantage. He made more than a third of his saves in the third quarter, turning back seven of the nine shots Georgetown put on frame.

Cooper Stefaniak notched his first collegiate hat trick to pace the Hobart offense. He also collected four ground balls. Classmate
Matt Opsahl added two goals. Sophomore
Jake Shapiro won 12-of-25 faceoffs and grabbed a team-high five ground balls.

The Hoyas took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Statesmen 6-2. Georgetown's Peter Conley could not be stopped, racking up a game-high nine points on eight goals and an assist. Bo Stafford added a game-high six assists. Gabriel Mendola went 16-of-27 at the X and registered a game-high 13 ground balls, leading GU to a 36-25 edge in GBs. Goalie Nick Marrocco made 13 saves on 22 shots in 58:51 of work to get the win.

Georgetown came into the game with the nation's No. 5 extra-man offense (.615), but limited the Hoyas to 1-of-4 man up. Georgetown was also sixth in the country in man-down defense, but the Statesmen went 2-for-4 with the extra-man.

Stafford set up three straight scores to stake the home team to a 3-0 lead with 7:05 left in the first quarter. Senior
Alex Love got Hobart on the board with his 113th career goal. It was the 138th point of his career, matching Jamie Breslin '01 for third among Division I Statesmen.

Conley answered Love's strike, but Opsahl and Stefaniak scored 13 seconds apart to send Hobart into the second quarter trailing by one, 4-3.

GU scored twice to start the second frame, but Stefaniak notched an unassisted tally at 10:05 to make it a 6-4 game. The Hoyas responded with three goals in less than two minutes, expanding their lead to 9-4. With 1:35 left in the half, sophomore

Casey Grieves, but Charles McCormick scored two seconds before the half expired to give Georgetown a 10-5 halftime lead.

Conley and Stafford teamed up for the first goal of the second half, but the Statesmen rattled off three straight in just over three minutes to make it a three-goal game, 11-8, with 3:36 left in the third quarter. Opsahl started the run, finishing a feed from senior

GU put the brakes on Hobart's comeback with three consecutive goals spanning the third and fourth quarters.

The Statesmen will be back in action on Tuesday, March 10, when they host Canisius at Boswell Field. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
