GENEVA, N.Y.—The 15th-ranked Hobart College football team will play its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 12, hosting Endicott College at noon on Boswell Field at the Caird Center for Sports and Recreation.
Prior to the start of the contest,
Tyre Coleman '15 will be recognized during a brief on field ceremony. The Hobart record holder for sacks and tackles for loss in a game, season and career, Coleman was the top Division III vote getter for the Cliff Harris Award which recognizes the best small college defensive player in the nation. Mike Cragg will present Coleman with a plaque from the Little Rock Touchdown Club.
The Statesmen (1-0) are coming off a 29-7 win at Dickinson last week. Hobart produced 400 yards of offense while limiting the Red Devils to just 97 yards. Senior linebacker
Jacob Stanley was named the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week after logging a team-high seven tackles, including 2.5 for loss and a pair of sacks. First-year running back
Tynard Barfield was named the Liberty League and ECAC North Rookie of the Week for producing 44 yards and a touchdown on just four carries and also making one reception for 6 yards.
Endicott is looking to bounce back from a 42-6 loss to Framingham State. The Gulls are led by former Hobart Statesmen Kevin DeWall. A football and lacrosse standout for the Statesmen, the 2000 graduate spent the past 15 seasons on Cragg's coaching staff, including 12 as offensive coordinator.
Tickets are $5 for general admission, $2 for children 12 and under. Parking in the Boswell Field lot is reserved for Statesmen Athletic Association members only.
