The No. 8 William Smith College soccer team took a 1-0 lead early in the first half and went on to top Ithaca 2-0 tonight in the 2015 Upstate Collegiate Cup hosted by the University of Rochester. The Herons advance to the championship game where they will face the host Yellowjackets tomorrow, Sept. 20, at 5:30 p.m., in Fauver Stadium.

Krista Longo extended the Heron lead to 2-0. Â It was also her first goal of the season. Longo found the back of the net after a long pass from junior

Kaileen Murray played all 90 minutes in goal for William Smith and stopped the lone shot she faced to earn her third shutout of the season. Beth Coppolecchia played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bombers and made five saves.
