Mia Morrison produced her fifth double-double to lead William Smith College to a 63-41 Liberty League women's basketball victory over Bard College in Bristol Gym tonight. She scored 14 points and collected 11 rebounds.

The Herons (5-9, 3-3) sprinted out of the gate, scoring the first 12 points of the game and carrying a 19-2 lead into the second quarter. William Smith pushed its lead to as many as 25 in the second quarter, going into halftime with a 34-12 lead.

The Herons shot 44 percent from the floor in the first half and limited the Raptors (5-11, 0-7) to 17 percent shooting. Morrison led all scorers with nine points at the break.

William Smith enjoyed another dominant quarter in the third, outscoring Bard 17-5, taking a comfortable 51-17 lead into the final frame.

Morrison finished the game 6-of-10 from the floor, 1-for-1 from beyond the arc, and 1-for-1 at the free throw line. Junior
Melanie Patterson also scored 14 points and junior
Gabrielle Eure chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.

For the game, the Herons shot 39 percent from the floor with seven 3-pointers and went 6-for-6 at the free throw line. William Smith controlled the glass, outrebounding the Raptors 51-32.

Bard senior Bianka Bell scored a team-high 12 points, including the 1,000th of her career. She became the third 1,000-point scorer in Raptor history with a free throw one and a half minutes into the fourth quarter. Sophomore Alexis Akingbade chipped in 9 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Bard also shot 39 percent from the floor with four 3-pointers and made 7-of-14 at the line.

William Smith will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 23, when the Herons host Vassar at 2 p.m. The Raptors will travel to RIT tomorrow for a 2 p.m. start.
