Six members of the William Smith College field hockey team garnered a spot on the 2016 Liberty League All-Academic Team.
 
To be eligible for all-academic honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 through the end of the 2016 spring semester. 
 
 The following Herons earned a place on the team:
 

• Leigh Blackiston, economics major
• Lindsay Brandt, psychology major
• Biz Chirco, public policy studies major
• Austen Gillen-Keeney, architectural studies major
• Samantha Petruzzo, computer science major
• Hannah Wood,  geoscience and environmental studies major

 
Brandt, Chirco, and Gillen-Keeney are three-time all-academic honorees while Wood is making her second straight appearance on the team.
 
William Smith finished the 2016 season with a 12-6 record, marking the program's 32nd consecutive winning season. The Herons 5-1 record in the Liberty League clinched a second straight regular season title for William Smith.
