Hobart controlled the faceoff X (21-8) and ground balls (32-19). First-year
Matthew Pedicine won 11-of-16 faceoffs and grabbed six ground balls while
J Andrew Spallanzani won 10-of-13 and grabbed three GBs. Stefaniak also picked up six ground balls to share game-high honors with Pedicine.
Junior goalie

First-year goalie Greg Price matched his season-high with 16 saves, including seven in the third quarter.
The Statesmen got off to a fast start as sophomore
J Andrew Spallanzani won the opening faceoff and scored his first goal of the season just seven seconds into the game. Junior
Sean Donnelly and Stefaniak followed with goals about a minute apart to stake the home team to a 3-0 lead. The teams traded goals to the end of the first quarter with Hobart leading 6-3 after one.
Dodge almost single-handedly got Sacred Heart back into the game with back-to-back goals about a minute and a half apart midway through the second quarter to make it a one-goal game. The Statesmen regained the momentum thanks to goals by junior
Frank Brown and Aslanian for an 8-5 halftime lead.
The third quarter had just two goals, an early tally by Aslanian and late strike by Jurk.
Hobart doubled up Sacred Heart with a four-goal run to start the fourth quarter, including scores by Llewellyn, Sisco, and Stefaniak. Romm broke the seniors strangle hold on the scoring to give Hobart a 12-6 lead with 7:53 remaining.
At that point, the Statesmen began to empty the bench.
The Pioneers netted the next four goals to make it a 13-10 game with 2:13 remaining, but Cochran finished a feed from Stefaniak and sophomore
Mason Burr capped the day's scoring with under a minute to go.
The Hobart victory secured the No. 3 seed in the NEC Tournament which will be hosted by Saint Joseph's University. The Statesmen will play No. 2 Bryant on Thursday, May 5 in Philadelphia.
