GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College lacrosse team scored eight goals in the second half to down visiting St. Lawrence 12-5 in a Liberty League game played on Boswell Field this afternoon. Senior
Geneva Calder led the Herons with a game-high four points on three goals and an assist.
William Smith is now 4-6 overall and 3-1 in the Liberty League, while the Saints fall to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Junior

Jackie Rogers registered a game-high four caused turnovers. Junior
Sarah Honan matched a season-high with 10 saves and scooped up a game-high five ground balls.
Julia Mitiguy and Hayden Stein each recorded a goal and an assist for St. Lawrence. Kayla Smalz logged a goal and shared a team-high with three ground balls. Emma Garfield also picked up three ground balls. Garfield and Tayler Kent each caused two turnovers. Olga Lukas started in goal for the Saints, playing 51:43 and made five saves. Cricket Wemyss came in for the final 8:17 and made two stops.
Moore opened the scoring for William Smith with 8:55 into the game with a free position goal. With 19:57 on the clock,
Geneva Calder gave the Herons a 2-0 advantage. Just 48 seconds later, Mitiguy put the Saints on the board after a feed from Stein. Stein scored a goal of her own on a free position chance with 14:04 left in the first to tie things up at 2-2. With 8:21 on the clock senior
Hannah Connolly found the back of the net to put William Smith back on top. Moore added her second goal of the day 7:25 before the break. Kara Hurley scored with 5:40 left in the first off a pass from Mitiguy to make it 4-3 at halftime.
The Herons took control of the game in the second half, scoring the first four goals to build an 8-3 lead.
Geneva Calder started the run 45 seconds in, followed by a free position goal by Bird 1:20 later. Flaherty maneuvered through the Saints' defense before finding the back of the net with 25:48 on the clock to make it 7-3. Sophomore
Ali Burns capped the run with 18:33 to go, logging an unassisted player-down goal. It wasn't until 17:59 on the clock that the Saints scored their first goal of the second half. Keira Taussig cut the St. Lawrence deficit to four, but William Smith answered with another four-goal run.

Emy Stratton set up Flaherty to extend the lead to six. With 2:33 remaining, sophomore
Ella Calder capitalized on a turnover by the Saints' goalie, scoring on a one-on-one.
Ella Calder also added three ground balls in the win. Schmalz scored with 2:05 left for the final score.
The Herons held a 27-21 advantage in shots and a 24-22 edge in ground balls. William Smith also earned a 13-6 lead in draws. The Herons were successful on 14-of-21 clear attempts, while the Saints succeeded on 12-of-19 tries.
The Herons will be back in action on Tuesday, April 12, when they play a non-league game at Ithaca at 4 p.m.
