Jemison tabbed preseason All-American

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—Hobart College senior linebacker Marcus Jemison was named a second team preseason All-American by D3football.com. It's the second year in a row that he has been recognized by the website, the premier source for Division III football news.

"It's an honor to have one of our players recognized and I look forward to seeing Marcus continue to improve and progress this season," Head Coach Mike Cragg said. "He's another in a long line of great Hobart linebackers."

In nine games last season, Jemison produced 49 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, and a team-high 4.5 sacks. He matched his career-high with 12 tackles at Springfield and rang up six solo tackles, two sacks, and two forced fumbles at then No. 24 Ithaca. Jemison also had a strong performance in Hobart's upset of then No. 25 St. Lawrence, finishing the contest with eight stops, two quarterback hurries, and a pass breakup.

Jemison was named to the 2015 All-Liberty League first team, marking the second straight year he made the all-conference first team. He's also a two-time D3football.com All-East selection, making the first team in 2014 and the third team last season.

A fast and versatile player, Jemison has played outside linebacker, cornerback, free safety, and defensive end during his Hobart career.

Hobart went 7-3 overall last season and finished third in the Liberty League with a 5-2 record. The Statesmen return seven starters on offense and eight on defense among their 41 returning letter winners. Hobart opens the 2016 season at Brockport on Sept. 3. The Statesmen will play their first home game of the year on Sept. 17, hosting Ithaca on Homecoming and Family Weekend.
