The William Smith College soccer team won its 11th straight Liberty League regular season title and earned the right to host the 2017 Liberty League Women's Soccer Tournament semifinals and championship.
 
Both the semifinals and the championship will be played on Boswell Field. The Herons, who are ranked No. 3 in the nation, will play the first semifinal on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. against No. 4 seed St. Lawrence. No. 2 Vassar will take on No. 3 RIT on Saturday in the second semifinal at 6:30 p.m. The winners will advance to the championship which will be played on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 3:30 p.m.
 
The Herons bring a 15-1-0 overall record into tournament play. William Smith ranks seventh in Division III in win percentage (.938) 10th in goals against average (0.31) and 13th in shutout percentage (.688). Senior 
Evie Manning leads the team with 11 goals and 27 points. Junior 
Megan Barwick has handed out a team-high six assists and added seven goals for 20 points. Junior goalie 
Veronica Romines ranks eighth in the nation with a 0.28 goals against average. She has an .852 shutout percentage and has earned seven shutouts.
 
William Smith and St. Lawrence just met on Oct. 28 in the final game of the regular season. The Herons earned a 2-1 victory in Canton. The Saints are 11-6-0 overall and went 5-4-0 in the Liberty League. St. Lawrence downed RPI 6-0 in its Liberty League Tournament first round match on Tuesday to advance to the semis. The Saint ranks 24th in the nation in shots per game (21.9).  Julia Mulhern and Megan Gannon each have registered a team-high 17 points. Mulhern has eight goals and an assist, while Gannon has seven goals and three assists. Kaleigh White and Emily Wade have a team-high five assists. Samantha Allen has played the most minutes in goal. She's sporting a 1.00 goals against average, a .828 save percentage and an 11-5-0 record.
 
Vassar brings a 9-5-3 record to Geneva. The Brewers finished up league play with a 5-3-1 record. Vassar and RIT met in the regular season back on Sept. 23, and played to a 1-1 draw. Ashley Ferry has a team-high 22 points on eight goals and six assists. Fiona Walsh has seen the most time in goal. She has a 0.97 goals against average, an .851 save percentage and a 9-5-3 record. Walsh has earned six shutouts this fall.
 
RIT's Monique Polanco scored with 25.6 seconds left in regulation to defeat No. 6 seed Clarkson in its first round match on Tuesday. The Tigers bring a 12-3-3 overall record to Boswell Field. RIT registered a 4-2-3 league record this year. The Tigers are unbeaten in their last eight games. RIT ranks 23rd in the nation in goals against average (0.51). Emily Thiel leads the team with 13 points and nine assists. Riley Yankowich has a team-high five goals. Kelly Rogers has played the majority of minutes in goal. She's sporting a 0.49 goals against average, which ranks 27th in Division III. Rogers has an .845 save percentage, a 12-3-3 record and eight shutouts.
