GENEVA, N.Y.—The No. 5 Hobart College ice hockey team tied Neumann early in the third period and held on for a 3-3 OT tie with the Knights in an ECAC West game played this afternoon in The Cooler.
The Statesmen are now 15-4-4 overall and 7-4-1 in conference play, while Neumann is 14-7-3 overall and 6-6-1 in the ECAC West.

Jonas Toupal each notched a goal and an assist for Hobart. Junior goaltender
Frank Oplinger made 20 saves in 60 minutes. The Statesmen finished with a 60-23 advantage in shots, including a 15-4 lead in the third and a 4-0 lead in overtime.
Neumann started things off with two goals in the first 2:15. Zac Lazzaro put the Knights on the board just 1:46 into the game. Anthony Pino and Lauri Vitanen earned the assists. Just over a minute later, Liam Board's shot on the power-play trickled into the goal to give Neumann the two goal advantage. Ryan Luiten was credited with the assist.
With 3:48 remaining in the first, sophomore Jack MacNee sent the puck into Hobart's offensive end. Neumann's goalie Anthony Pupplo came out to play it and accidentally sent it into his own goal.
Shane Topf built the Knights' lead back up to two with a goal at 9:02 into the second period after passes from Johannes Sallila and Nick Perruccio. With 3:50 left in the middle period, Sternbach stuffed loose puck into the goal on a Hobart power-play. He collected the rebound from a shot by classmate
Lawson MacDougall. Toupal also earned an assist on the play. It was Sternbach's ninth goal this year.
Just 48 seconds into the third, Toupal knotted the game up at 3-3 for Hobart, lifting his shot into the top right corner. His 10th goal this season came after passes from Sternbach and sophomore
Brandon Bistodeau. Neither team could find the game-winner in regulation or overtime. Senior
Nick Bingaman came inches away blasting a shot off the pipe 1:50 into the extra period.
Hobart went 1-for-6 on the power play, while Neumann finished 1-for-2. Pupplo finished with 57 saves in goal for the Knights.
