Justin Scott each scored a pair of goals for the Hobart College lacrosse team, but a slow start cost the Statesmen at Binghamton University this afternoon. The Bearcats completely controlled the first half on the way to a 12-6 win at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

Mason Burr also hit the back of the net for Hobart (2-2). Senior goalie
Jackson Brown made 10 saves on the day.
Binghamton (2-1) had four players finish with three points in the game, including Tyler DeLuca's hat trick. Sean Gilroy added two goals and an assist while Thomas McAndrew and Tom Moore both contributed a goal and two assists. Austin Macchi won 13-of-21 faceoffs and had a game-high six ground balls. Goalie Tanner Cosens recorded 13 saves to get the win.
The Bearcats enjoyed the upper hand in shots (37-33), ground balls (24-14), and faceoffs (14-8). Both teams were 1-for-3 with the extra man.
Griffen Konen opened the day's scoring midway through the first quarter, but Scott answered near the five minute mark. DeLuca put Binghamton back in front just over a minute later, igniting a seven-goal run by the home team. Gilroy made it a 3-1 game with just under three minutes to go in the first and Joe Licata and Konen added tallies in the final minute to send Binghamton into the second quarter with a 5-1 lead.
Gilroy, Stephen Petrelli, and McAndrew scored in succession to make it an 8-1 lead with under seven minutes to go in the half. Scott scored his team-leading 11th goal of the season to stop Hobart's scoreless drought just short of 15 minutes to make it 8-2. The Bearcats added two more goals before the end of the half for a 10-2 lead at the break.
DeLuca completed his hat trick with a man-up goal to start the second half. Romm scored a man-up goal of his own, assisted by senior attackman
Sean Donnelly, to start a four-goal run for the Statesmen. Burr and Brown scored just over a minute apart to make it an 11-5 game going into the fourth quarter.
Romm scored about five minutes into the fourth quarter to trim the Hobart deficit to five, but Moore capped the day's scoring about a minute later.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Wednesday, March 8 when they travel to Colgate University. The opening faceoff against the Raiders is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but both Hobart and Colgate had their Saturday game postponed to Sunday, so the teams agreed to push back their showdown by a day.
