Three different members of the No. 3 William Smith College soccer team scored as the Herons topped Rochester 3-1 in a non-league game played under the lights in Rochester, N.Y., tonight.

William Smith improves to 4-1-0 overall, while the Yellowjackets suffered their first loss of the season to fall to 4-1-1. Junior

Evie Manning each had a goal for the Herons. Junior
Veronica Romines played all 90 minutes in goal for William Smith and made two saves. Emily Henry scored the lone goal for Rochester. Emma Campbell made six saves in goal for the Yellowjackets.

Barwick put William Smith on the scoreboard just 8:40 into the match on a shot from 10 yards out. Her third goal of the season came off a cross from the right side from junior
Sarah Olick-Sutphen. Barwick nearly had a second in the 15th minute. Junior
Phoebe Wade's shot was blocked and Barwick drove the rebound off the left post from some distance. First-year Julia Keough notched her first collegiate goal in the 40th minute to make it 2-0. Classmate
Sheila McQuillen set up the play with a cross from the right side.

In the 60th minute, Manning gave the Herons a 3-0 advantage capitalizing on a breakaway for her second goal of the season. Wade earned the assist.

Henry broke through for Rochester in the 64th minute. She took advantage of a one-on-one with the goalie to prevent the shutout. Kerry Eden was credited with the assist.

The Herons finished with a 19-4 advantage in shots and a 5-0 lead in corners.

William Smith will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 19, when they host Misericordia for a non-league game at 4:30 p.m.
