For the third straight week, the William Smith College soccer team checked in at No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches poll. The Herons also remained at No. 6 in the D3soccer.com poll.
 
William Smith (11-2-0, 7-0-0) extended its winning streak to seven matches with a pair of shutout victories over Liberty League opponents last weekend. The Herons defeated Union 1-0 on Friday and bested Rensselaer 2-0 on Saturday.
 
Senior Megan Barwick paces the Heron offense with seven goals, four assists, and 18 points this season. Sophomore Sheila McQuillen is second on the team with five goals and 12 points. Senior goalie Veronica Romines has started all seven Liberty League contests. In eight games, she is 7-0-0 with a 0.16 goals against average and a .933 save percentage. Romines has posted five shutouts.
 
The Herons return to Cozzens Field following a four game road trip. William Smith will take on Vassar on Saturday, Oct. 20.  The Brewers are 7-5-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the Liberty League. Offensively, Vassar is led by Emma Tanner's six goals and 12 points. Ashley Ferry has a team best four assists. Fiona Walsh has played a majority of the minutes in goal for the Brewers. She is 6-5-1 with a 1.16 GAA and a .772 save percentage.
 
Saturday's match will be the 23rd meeting in a series that dates back to the turn of the century. The Herons are 21-0-1 all-time against the Brewers, including an 12-0-1 record in Geneva, N.Y.
