The Hobart College soccer team welcomes Vassar College to Boswell Field at David J Urick Stadium tomorrow, Oct. 30, for a first round match in the Liberty League Men's Soccer Tournament. The match, which was moved to Urick Stadium due to the weather forecast and soft field conditions on Cozzens Field, is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The Statesmen, who finished the season with a 7-7-2 overall record and a 5-3-1 record in the Liberty League, earned a home game after finishing fourth in the conference standings. Vassar completed its regular season with a 9-6-0 overall record and a 5-4-0 record in conference, placing fifth. Vassar won the regular season contest between the two teams on Oct. 20. The Brewers scored twice in the second half to come away with a 2-0 victory in Poughkeepsie.
The Statesmen concluded their regular season last Saturday, Oct. 27, at St. Lawrence. The Saints edged Hobart 2-1 to claim the regular season crown. Offensively, the Statesmen are led by sophomore
Kyle Mangold's four goals and eight points. Junior
Tristan Cornell Roberts is right behind him with three goals, one assist and seven points. Sophomore
Pete Critchlow has a team-high four assists on the year. Senior
Alec Kaminer has started all but one game in goal for Hobart. He is 6-7-2 with a 0.85 goals against average and a .827 save percentage.
The Brewers come into the game averaging 1.40 goals per game. Vassar concluded its regular season with a 4-3 loss to Ithaca. The Bombers scored four times in the final 30 minutes of the game. Mattie Mrlik, who scored the game-winning goal against Hobart, leads the team with four goals, five assists and 13 points. Four other Brewers have three goals. Tyler Gilmore is second on the team with four assists. Will Marment has played a majority of the minutes in goal for Vassar. He is 7-5-0 with a 0.96 GAA and a .786 save percentage.
