Herons to host NCAA sectional

The ninth-ranked William Smith College soccer team will host an NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Sectional on Saturday, Nov. 17 and Sunday, Nov. 18, on Boswell Field at David J Urick Stadium.
 
The Herons (16-3-0) will face No. 14 Amherst (15-2-2) in a third round match on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m.  William Smith punched its ticket to the third round with a 1-0 double overtime triumph against Tufts yesterday. The Mammoths defeated No. 21 Massachusetts Institute of Technology 1-0 on Sunday to advance to the third round.
 
The first game on Saturday will feature No. 5 Williams (17-1-2) and No. 7 The College of New Jersey (15-1-1). The Ephs rallied to defeat Stevens 2-1 yesterday in a second round match in Williamstown, Mass. The Lions bested Farmingdale State 1-0 to secure their spot in the third round.
 
Saturday's advancing teams will meet in the quarterfinals on Sunday at 1 p.m. for a spot in the national semifinals.
 
Tickets are $6 for general admission, $3 for students, senior citizens and military personnel and $2 for children ages 3-12. Fans unable to make it to Boswell Field can follow all the action with Live Stats and Live Video.
