7 Heron harriers earn all-academic awards

Seven members of the William Smith College cross country team earned a spot on the 2018 Liberty League All-Academic Team.
 
To be eligible for all-academic honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 through the end of the 2018 spring semester.
 
The following Herons earned a place on the team:
   
Goodwin and Hawes nabbed their third straight all-academic honors, while Abelson, Browning, and Maher earned honors for the second consecutive year.
 
The Herons posted their best finishes at the Cross Country Only Conference Championship and the SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational, finishing second. William Smith was seventh at the Liberty League Championship and 16th at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship meet. The 16th place finish at the regional was William Smith's best finish at that meet in 17 years.
