The No. 11/12 Hobart College hockey team rounded out the regular season with a 4-2 NEHC win over Castleton in Rutland, Vt., this evening. The Statesmen are now 15-5-5 overall and 12-3-3 in conference play.
 
The Spartans fall to 7-15-3 this season and are now 3-14-1 in the NEHC. Junior 
Jonas Toupal led the Statesmen with a goal and two assists in the win.  Junior

Zach Sternbach each notched a goal and an assist. Sophomore 
Alexander Connal played the opening 31:42 in goal and made eight saves. First-year 
Ethan Domokos came in for the final 28:13 and stopped 13 shots.
 
Hobart's Class of 2018 now holds the record for most wins by a graduating class with a 77-22-11 four year mark.
 
Castleton scored first 4:15 into the game. Glenn Wiswell found the back of the net after a pass from Dom Kuziak. Hobart answered with two first period goals to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. Sophomore

Andrew Silard were credited with the assists. Sternbach gave the Statesmen their first lead of the game with 2:30 left in the first. Toupal and Shaw logged the assists.
 
Toupal opened the second period with a power-play goal 4:02 in. Sternbach and Shaw set up the play. Caleb Fizer responded with a power-play tally for the Spartans off feeds from Jimmy Burns and Mark Shroyer to make it 3-2 6:51 into the third. Shaw added a power-play goal for Hobart just over two minutes later for the final score. Toupal earned the assist on the Statesmen's fourth goal.
 
Brody Wagner made 29 saves in goal for Castleton. Hobart finished with a 33-23 advantage in shots. The Statesmen went 2-for-5 on the power play and the Spartans were 1-for-5.
 
The NEHC tournament begins on Saturday, Feb. 17. The complete schedule and seedings will be released by the NEHC tomorrow, Feb. 11.
