The No. 18 William Smith College lacrosse team scored the first five goals of the game, building a 5-1 lead at halftime and went on to defeat the University of Rochester 11-5 in a Liberty League game played in Rochester, N.Y. today. With their fourth straight win, the Herons improve to 11-4 overall and 8-1 in conference play.

The Yellowjackets fall to 4-8 overall and 4-5 in the Liberty League. Madeline Levy led Rochester with three points on two goals and an assist. Jamison Seabury dished out two assists and won two draws. Madeline Mullholand won a team-high three draws. Katherine Bushway played the opening 1:27. Conley Ernst came in for 58:33 and made 12 saves.

Sarah Benyo opened the scoring 1:27 into the game off an assist from first-year
Sadie Mapstone. Yackel posted back-to-back goals followed by Moore's first of the game. Yackel rounded out her second hat trick of the year with 9:48 left in the first. Levy put the Yellowjackets on the scoreboard 40 seconds later to make it 5-1 at the break.

Sophomore
Nicki Santora opened the second half scoring 1:26 in. Mullholand scored Rochester's second goal of the game off an assist from Levy. Yackel tallied her fourth of the day off an assist from Moore, and then Moore followed with her second goal of the day after a pass from Carr. With 18:08 remaining, Maggie McKenna found the back of the net for Rochester. Seabury earned the assist. Moore struck again with 15:56 to go to make it 9-3. It was her sixth hat trick this season. Carr posted her fourth goal of the year with 9:52 remaining. Katherine Woo took advantage of a pass from Mary Panepento to get Rochester within six. Moore tallied her fourth of the day and team-leading 37th of the season with 5:32 to go. Levy chipped in her second of the day with 4:23 left in the game for the final score. Seabury earned the assist.

William Smith finished with a 30-16 advantage in shots and a 21-13 edge in ground balls. The Yellowjackets held a 10-8 advantage in draws.
