GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College first-years
Anna Murphy and
Kelsey Williams each notched a season-high four goals, leading the No. 16 Heron lacrosse team to a 14-7 win over Rensselaer in the Liberty League Tournament semifinals. The Herons earned a spot in the championship game for the third year in a row.
William Smith is now 13-4 overall and will meet Ithaca in the title game. The Bombers downed RIT 18-5. The championship game will be held tomorrow, May 6, on Boswell Field at 1 p.m. RPI finished its season with a 9-6-1 record.
Murphy added two ground balls and three draws for the Herons. Senior
Melissa Moore notched two goals and an assist, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. First-year
Mekayla Montgomery logged a game-high six caused turnovers, which ties for second most in a game on the Heron program list. She also won a game-high seven draws and picked up a game-high five ground balls. Sophomore

Bizzer Gahagan each registered a goal and an assist. First-year
Jules Kennedy played the opening 42:34 in goal and made two saves. First-year
Olivia Hofmann came in for the final 17:26 and made five saves.
Abbey Salvon and Lauren Guiry each scored two goals for the Engineers. Morgan Doyle added a goal and an assist. Kyla Donovan picked up a team-high four ground balls and caused two turnovers, and Nora Molino won a team-high three draws. Aleena Milinski played all 60 minutes in goal and made 13 saves.
Guiry opened the scoring, giving the Engineers a 1-0 lead 49 seconds in. Gahagan responded with a free position goal for the Herons at 4:48 to knot the game at one. Salvon notched a free position goal to give RPI a 2-1 advantage with 19:46 left in the first. The Herons then rattled off the next six goals to build a 7-2 lead. Moore opened the run with 19:03 on the clock. Williams then scored the next four straight goals. She upped her season total to 13. Senior

Sarah Benyo assisted the second. Her third was a free position and her fourth was an unassisted tally. With 4:48 left in the first, Michelle Bolger found the back of the net for RPI. William Smith added two more goals to take a 9-3 lead into halftime. Santora scored her 13th goal of the year off a pass from Moore, and senior
Ali Burns netted her 21st of the year with 38 seconds on the clock.
Guiry started the second half scoring for the Engineers at 5:22 in. William Smith then went on a five-goal run to take a 14-4 lead. Slagle fired home her first goal of the year on a free position. Murphy posted her second of the day, followed by Moore's second of the afternoon and 39th on the season. Murphy followed with back-to-back goals. The first came off a feed from Gahagan and the second was assisted by Benyo. Murphy now has 15 goals this year. RPI closed out the game with goals from Shyla Niemann, Salvon and Doyle.
The Herons finished with a 36-19 advantage in shots, a 16-15 edge in ground balls and a 15-8 lead in draws. William Smith was successful on 21-of-24 clear attempts. The Engineers finished 20-of-22 clear attempts.
