DALLAS, Pa.-The 24th-ranked Misericordia women's soccer team scored twice in the second half as it rallied to defeat fifth-ranked William Smith 2-1 on Mangelsdorf Field this afternoon. The Herons conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 4-2-0 overall record.

Ashley Edgell scored a penalty kick goal in the 82nd minute to complete the comeback for the Cougars (5-1-1). She fired a shot from the penalty spot into the left half of net. William Smith first-year goalie
Amanda Kesler guessed correctly but the ball got past her outstretched fingers.

The Herons took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute off the head of senior
Megan Richard. On William Smith's second corner kick of the game, senior
Megan Barwick put a crossing ball into the box that Richard got her head on and sent into the goal.

Misericordia scored the equalizer in the 57th minute. Kristen Ritter converted on a free kick from 40-yards out. Her shot from midfield was misplayed in the box and trickled across the goal line.

Following Edgell's penalty kick, William Smith recorded the game's final four shots. Three shots were blocked and Alexis Benedetto stopped a Barwick shot from 18-yards out.

Kesler played all 90 minutes in goal for the Herons and made one save. Benedetto made three stops in the Cougar's goal.

William Smith finished the game with a 13-10 edge in shots and a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.

The Herons will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 22, when they take on Skidmore. Saturday's match will be the Liberty League opener for both teams.
