For the second straight week, the William Smith College soccer team is ranked fourth in the United Soccer Coaches poll. In addition, the Herons held at No. 7 in the D3soccer.com poll.

William Smith (6-1-1, 2-0-0) opened Liberty League play last week with a pair of victories. On Wednesday, the Herons shutout RIT 2-0, before scoring twice in the second half to knock off Skidmore 3-1 on Saturday. William Smith limited the Tigers and Thoroughbreds to nine shots in 180 minutes of action.

Merilyn Hinrichs leads William Smith with seven points on two goals and three assists. She is one of four Herons with two goals. First-year

Sheila McQuillen also have scored twice this season. Sophomore
Amanda Kesler has played all but six minutes in goal this season. She is 6-1-1 with a .833 save percentage and a 0.36 goals against average. Kesler ranks 16th in the nation in GAA. Â

William Smith wraps up a season-long three-game homestand this week with a pair of Liberty League games. The Herons host Ithaca tomorrow, Oct. 2, at 4:30 p.m. and will welcome Clarkson to Geneva on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m.

The Bombers are 6-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in Liberty League play after defeating Bard 2-0 on Saturday. Alex Epifani leads the team with 14 points on five goals and four assists. She leads the Liberty League in points and is second in goals. Ally Christman is tied for the team and conference lead with four assists. Sara Jakobsze has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She is 6-2-1 with a 0.54 GAA and a .848 save percentage.

Tomorrow's game will be the 32nd meeting between William Smith and Ithaca. The Herons lead the all-time series 19-8-3, including a 10-4-1 edge in Geneva. William Smith has won the last five meetings, including two as Liberty League opponents.

The Golden Knights are 7-2-1 overall and a 1-1-0 mark in conference play. Clarkson is coming off a loss to RIT 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. Giulia Mahoney (3g, 3a), Danielle Martin (4g, 1a) and Camryn Careccia (4g, 1a) lead the team with nine points each. Elyse Green has played every minute in goal and is 7-2-1 with a 1.17 GAA and a .810 save percentage.

Saturday's game is the 33rd meeting between the Herons and the Golden Knights. William Smith is 32-0-0 all-time against Clarkson, including a 15-0-0 mark in Geneva.
