POTSDAM, N.Y.-The Hobart College soccer team and Clarkson played to a 0-0 tie in a Liberty League contest on Hantz Field this afternoon.  Senior goalie 
Brian Salazar made four saves as he earned his fifth shutout of the season.
 
With the tie, the Statesmen are now 8-3-1 overall this season and 2-1-1 in the Liberty League.  The Golden Knights are now 6-3-2 overall and 2-0-2 in conference play.
 
Clarkson carried a majority of the play in the opening 45 minutes. In the sixth minute, Sebastian Dietachmair had the game's first scoring chance, firing a shot on goal, but Salazar made a diving stop. One minute later, Cam Emde-Gerdine had a shot just miss the right post. First-year 
Lucas Montero had Hobart's best opportunity of the first half, but Ian Roeloffs made the stop.
 
The Statesmen carried the play in the second half but could not convert on their scoring chances. Junior 
Jack Fell had Hobart's best chance of the game, but he fired a shot off the goal post with 15 minutes remaining in regulation. Clarkson's best chance came with 4:30 left in regulation, but Stephen Klimek's shot was deflected by a Hobart defender.
 
Neither team registered a shot in the first overtime. In the 107th minute, junior 
Pete Critchlow fired a shot on cage that was smothered by Roeloffs.
 
Hobart finished the game with a 15-14 edge in shots while Clarkson held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.
 
The Statesmen will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they welcome Vassar to Cozzens Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
