GENEVA, N.Y.- The fifth-ranked Hobart College hockey team rattled off eight unanswered goals to rally past Castleton 8-3 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Cooler this afternoon. With the win, Hobart is now 4-1-1 on the season and 3-1-0 in the NEHC, while the Spartans fall to 1-3-1 and 1-2-1 in conference play.

Seven different Statesmen scored a goal and 14 players recorded at least one point in the victory. Junior
Travis Schneider (2g, 1a) and seniors
Julien Denicourt (1g, 2a) and
Lawson MacDougall (3a) finished the game with three points each. Sophomore
Joe Halstrom made 11 saves in 60 minutes of action.

Glen Wiswell had a game-high two points for the Spartans. Brandon Collett started in goal and made 51 saves in just over 51 minutes of action. Kyle Alaverdy came on in relief and made two saves.

Castleton jumped out to a 3-0 lead 13 minutes into the game. Wiswell opened the scoring, converting on a power play opportunity at the 1:07 mark of the first period. He picked up a rebound and flipped it past Halstrom for his third goal of the season. Nick Gravina and Troy Taylor were credited with assists on the goal. Twenty-two seconds later, Wiswell broke up a clearing attempt at Hobart's blue line and ripped a shot under the crossbar for his second goal of the game. Calvin Moise extended the lead to three goals with his second goal of the season. Mark Shroyer and Gravina were credited with assists on the goal.

Hobart scored the game's next eight goals to record the come from behind win. Junior
Alec Robitaille started the run at the 15 minute mark. He crashed the net, following his own rebound, and poked the puck across the goal line. Denicourt was credited with an assist on Robitaille's third goal of the season. Just over one minute later, Schneider notched his second goal of the season to make it a one goal game. He redirected
TJ Schultz's shot from the point past Collett. Sophomore
Blake Coffey had the secondary assist on the goal.

The Statesmen took control of the game, outshooting the Spartans 23-1 in the middle period. Sophomore
Jake Gresh scored the equalizer at the 14:26 mark of the second period. MacDougall and junior
Mike Faulkner were credited with assists on the goal. Just over a minute later, Senior
Will Harrison gave Hobart its first lead of the game. He won a faceoff in the right circle to junior
Ryan Lynch. Lynch's one-timer was stopped by Collett, but Harrison banged home the rebound for his first goal of the season.

The Statesmen put the game out of reach with four goals in the third period. First-year
Brenden Howell notched his team-leading fourth goal of the season at the 2:05 mark of the period. MacDougall and senior
Zach Sternbach were credited with assists on the goal. Two minutes later, Schneider pocketed his second goal of the game, flipping a shot from the slot over the goalie's glove. Sophomore
Aaron Maguyon and senior
Julien Denicourt had assists on the goal. Sternbach added a goal of his own at the 6:11 mark of the period. He banked home a one-timer off a feed from MacDougall. Denicourt collected his first goal of the season to close out the scoring. Schneider and Tyson notched assists on the goal.

Hobart finished the game with a 61-14 advantage in shots. The Spartans were 1-for-3 on the power play and the Statesmen were 0-for-2.

Hobart will be back at The Cooler on Friday, Nov. 23, when it takes on third-ranked Oswego. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
