BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The Hobart College basketball team trailed the College at Brockport by 15 points with just under eight minutes remaining, but the Statesmen used a 24-10 rally to trim their deficit to just one with over a minute to go, but the Golden Eagles held on for a 75-74 victory.
Hobart's ill-fated charge started with a 10-2 run that closed the gap to 65-58 in under two minutes. The surge ended with an 8-2 burst, capped off by a jumper by sophomore
Dan Masino that made it a 73-72 game. Senior
Tucker Lescoe scored nine of his 18 points on the night during the comeback attempt. Masino added five of his 18 points.
At the other end of the floor, Brockport (1-1) missed a 3-pointer and junior
Jack Lesure secured the rebound to give Hobart a chance to take the lead. Masino missed a layup attempt with about 13 seconds to go and Jahidi Wallace collected the carom for the Golden Eagles. He was fouled and made both of his free throws to extend the lead to three. Lescoe missed an off-balance 3-pointer with time running out and Lesure tipped in the rebound at the buzzer to complete the scoring.

Daniel Cook scored nine points for Hobart and senior
Edens Fleurizard added eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. The Statesmen (1-1) shot 51 percent from the floor for the game, but struggled from distance (6-20) and at the line (8-18).
Brockport had four players in double figures led by Justin Summers double-double on 23 points and 10 rebounds. Wallace finished with 14 points. Tyler Sullivan and Malick Sylla each chipped in 10 points. The Golden Eagles shots 41 percent from the floor and made just 2-of-17 from beyond the arc. They turned the tide in their favor by making 23-of-28 at the free throw line.
Both teams finished with 33 rebounds on the night, while Brockport finished plus-four in turnover margin (19-23).
Brockport led for most of the first half, carrying a 34-31 lead into halftime. The Golden Eagles opened up their largest lead of the game with a 13-2 run in the middle of the second half.
Hobart will play its home opener Friday, Nov. 22 when Baldwin Wallace visits Bristol Gym. The opening tipoff is at 7 p.m.
