GENEVA, N.Y.-The second-ranked William Smith College soccer team scored three times in the second half to rally past 18th-ranked Stevens 3-2 in a NCAA third round game on Cozzens Field this afternoon. The Herons will face 12th-ranked Johns Hopkins on Sunday, Nov. 24, in the quarterfinal round at 1 p.m.

William Smith (19-1-1) was led by junior
Sheila McQuillen, who scored a pair of goals 47 seconds apart to open the second half. Fellow junior
Amanda Adams added a goal and an assist. The win was the Herons' 15th consecutive win, the longest active streak in the country.

Stevens, which entered the game on the nation's longest win streak of 15 games, wraps up its season with a 17-4-1 overall record.

The Ducks pressured William Smith right from the opening whistle and took a 1-0 lead on the first shot of the game. In the fifth minute, Gabby Saade forced a turnover at the top of the box, turned her defender and chipped a shot into the upper right corner of the cage. It was her ninth goal of the season. Stevens nearly doubled its lead in the 10th minute, but Ally Wanzor's shot at the bottom right corner of the cage was stopped by
Amanda Kesler. Wanzor converted on a chance in the 29th minute, to extend the Ducks lead to 2-0. She collected a loose ball just outside the box and chipped a shot over Kesler and into the upper left corner of the cage. It was her sixth goal of the season.

After some halftime adjustments, the Herons came out of the break and took control of the game. In the 50th minute, McQuillen tied the game with a pair of goals. At 49:09, she ran onto the end of an Adams through ball and slipped a shot into the lower left corner of the cage. Forty-seven seconds later, McQuillen struck again. Keogh heel-flicked a pass through traffic to McQuillen who fired a shot from the top of the 18-yard box and into the net. The goals were McQuillen's seventh and eighth goals of the season, respectively. The Herons continued to pile on the pressure with junior
Maialen Martinez nearly netting the go ahead goal twice. Both of her shots were smothered by Izzy DiDario. Adams potted the game-winning goal in the 67th minute. She collected a leading pass from
Katrine Berg and blasted a shot past DiDario for her second goal of the season.

William Smith finished the game with a 13-9 edge in shots. Both teams took four corner kicks.

Kesler played all 90 minutes in goal for William Smith and made five saves. DiDario stopped five shots in the Stevens goal.
