TROY, N.Y.-The Hobart College soccer team will head to the Capital Region for the 2019 Liberty League Men's Soccer Championship this weekend. The Statesmen, who are the tournament's No. 2 seed will face the No. 6 seed Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's East Campus Athletic Village.

The Statesmen bring a 13-4-1 overall record into Saturday's semifinal. Hobart was 6-2-1 in Liberty League play this season and finished second in the conference, earning a bye to the semifinals. The Statesmen locked up the No. 2 seed in the tournament thanks to a 1-0 victory over St. Lawrence in overtime last Saturday, Nov. 2. Entering the week, Hobart is sixth in the nation in save percentage (.875) and shutout percentage (0.611).

Offensively, Hobart is led by senior
Nate Cary who has 15 points on six goals and three assists. Juniors
Kyle Mangold and
Juan Widoycovich have four goals each. Senior
Brian Salazar has played a majority of the minutes in goal. He is 13-4-1 with a 0.67 goals against average and a .870 save percentage. Salazar ranks ninth in the nation in save percentage and 23rd in GAA.

Hobart's opponent, RIT, brings a 6-9-2 overall record into Saturday's game. The Tigers were 4-5-0 in Liberty League play. RIT and Vassar played to a 1-1 draw in Tuesday's first round game. RIT advanced to the semifinals on penalty kicks 4-3.

The Tigers are led by Simon Garno's 21 points (7g, 7a). Nick Simone is right behind him with 19 points (6g, 7a). Jared Short has also scored seven times this season. Will Sokol and Spencer Raymond-Smith have split time in goal. Sokol is 2-5-1 with a 2.39 GAA and a .633 save percentage. Raymond-Smith is 4-3-1 with a 0.60 GAA and a .771 save percentage.

Hobart won the regular season meeting between the two teams on Sept. 25. The Statesmen jumped out to a three-goal lead and hung on for a 3-2 victory over the Tigers. Cary scored a pair of goals 28 seconds apart to give the Statesmen a 2-0 lead in the fourth minute. Widoycovich added a goal in the 26th minute. Garno and Mark-Vincent Sansone tallied for the Tigers. Salazar made five saves in goal.

The first semifinal will see the host Engineers take on No. 4 seed Clarkson at 4 p.m. RPI is 14-2-2 overall and 10-0-0 at ECAV this season. The Engineers clinched the regular season title with a 2-0 victory over Vassar on Oct. 30. Clarkson is 11-4-3 overall and was 5-1-3 in Liberty League play. The Golden Knights advanced to the semifinals with a 1-0 victory over Ithaca on Tuesday. RPI and Clarkson played to a 0-0 draw at Clarkson on Oct. 30.
