GENEVA, N.Y.-The Hobart College hockey team scored five times in the third period to rally past Suffolk 7-4 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Cooler this afternoon. The Statesmen are now 3-0-1 overall on the season and 2-0-0 in conference play.

Jake Gresh had a team-high three points on a goal and two assists in the victory. Five other Statesmen had two points, including first-year

Jack Kelly (1g, 2a) and Brandon Brooks (2g, 1a) had a team-high three points for the Rams (1-2-0, 0-2-0). Alex Kolowrat added a goal and an assist. Nathan Pickett made 51 saves in 60 minutes of action for Suffolk.

Hobart opened the scoring 93 seconds into the game. Junior
Travis Schneider one-timed a shot from the slot past Pickett for his first goal of the season. Maguyon and Gresh were credited with assists on the goal. Suffolk tied the game at the 7:56 mark of the first period. Brooks wristed a shot through traffic and into the back of the net. Phil Kreuser and Kelly were credited with assists on the goal. Just under six minutes later, Brooks added his second goal of the game, wiring a shot from the point under the crossbar. Kolowrat and Miller Rubin were credited with assists on the goal.

The Statesmen tied the game at two just over a minute into the second period. Sternbach banked home a rebound for his second goal of the season.
Mark Benemerito and MacDougall were credited with assists on the goal. Suffolk regained the lead at the 3:15 mark of second period. Kelly was hauled down on breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot. He deked Halstrom and slid a backhand across the goal line for his second goal of the season. Hobart had its chances in the second period, outshooting the Rams 26-3, but Pickett was up to the task making 25 saves.

Hobart again stuck quickly to start the third period. Just under two minutes into the period, Sternbach hit MacDougall with a clearing pass. MacDougall wristed a shot into the upper left corner of the cage. Seventy seconds later, Kolowrat scored to give the Rams a 4-3 lead. Kolowrat threw the puck off of a body in front of the cage for his first goal of the season. Kelly and Brooks notched assists on the goal. The Statesmen tied the game at four 35 seconds later when Maguyon beat Pickett for his second goal of the season. Howell's first goal of the game, at the 4:58 mark of the third period, would prove to be the game winner. He blasted a shot from the right faceoff circle into the back of the net for his second goal of the season. Faulkner and Gresh were credited with assists on the power-play goal. Gresh and Howell added insurance goals to round out the scoring. Â Gresh's second goal of the season was assisted by
Andrew Longo. Faulkner notched an assist on Howell's third tally of the year.

Hobart finished the game with a 58-16 edge in shots on goal. The Statesmen were 1-for-6 on the power play while the Rams were 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

Hobart will be back in action next Friday, Nov. 15, when it welcomes Norwich to The Cooler. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
