#8 Statesmen host #2 Bantams Wednesday

The eighth-ranked Hobart College hockey team will be back in action Wednesday, Dec. 11, when it welcomes second-ranked Trinity to the Cooler. Faceoff in the non-conference contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
The Statesmen (6-3-1) are looking to bounce back from a pair of one-goal losses this past weekend. On Friday, then No. 15 New England College rallied past the Statesmen 4-3. The next day, Hobart was tripped up by Southern Maine 3-2 in overtime.
 
Through 10 games this season, Hobart is ranked in the top 10 in the nation in penalty kill percentage (5th, 92.5%), scoring margin (7th, +2.10) and scoring offense (8th, 4.20) and in the top 25 in the nation in scoring defense (14th, 2.10).
 
The Statesmen have relied on their depth this season to score 42 goals. Seventeen different players have scored at least one goal and 24 different players have recorded at least a point so far this season. Junior Alec Robitaille leads the team with five goals. Five different players have four goals each. Senior Lawson MacDougall and junior Mike Faulkner lead the team with eight assists each. Sophomore Joe Halstrom has played every minute in goal, he is 6-3-1 with a 2.08 goals against average and a .915 save percentage.
 
Wednesday's game will be Hobart's third top-10 match up of the season and fourth against a team in the USCHO.com poll. The Statesmen are 1-1-0 against teams in the top 10 and 1-2-0 against teams in the poll. Since the Class of 2020 arrived on campus, the Statesmen are 13-12-4 against teams ranked in the USCHO.com poll.
 
The Bantams bring a 7-0-0 record to The Cooler.  Trinity will be back in action for the first time since Dec. 1, when it beat Saint Anslem 4-1. The Bantams are ranked first in the nation in winning percentage and penalty kill percentage (96.8%), second in scoring defense (1.14) and sixth in scoring margin (+2.29).
 
The Bantams are led offensively by Barclay Gammil, who has nine points on four goals and five assists. Lucas Michaud is right behind him with a goal and seven assists for eight points. Teddy Loughborough and Jonah Capriotti have split time in goal. Loughborough is 4-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a .960 save percentage. He is second in the nation in GAA and save percentage. Capriotti is 2-0-0 with a .914 save percentage and a 1.50 GAA.
 
Wednesday's game will be the 10th meeting between Hobart and Trinity. The all-time series is deadlocked at 3-3-3. The Bantams hold a slight 1-0-1 edge in Geneva.
