Lucas was 8-of-16 shooting and a perfect 4-for-4 at the line for a game-high 20 points. He also shared team-high honors with eight rebounds and three assists. Dougherty finished with 18 points, making all five of his free throws. He grabbed six boards and also dished out three assists. Junior

St. Lawrence seized control of the game with seven straight points late in the first half. After a Lescoe 3-pointer made it a 17-14 game, Crawford answered with a layup. Hobart missed its next shot and Hicks converted a jumper. He then made a steal and converted a traditional 3-point play for a 24-14 lead with about three minutes left in the half. The Saints went into halftime with a 28-20 lead.
SLU pushed its advantage to 12 early in the second half, but the Statesmen pulled it back to eight, 35-27, following a Dougherty 3-pointer. But, in little more than a minute, the Saints doubled their lead thanks to a Crawford dunk and back-to-back threes by DeRegis. St. Lawrence maintained a double digit lead throughout the remainder of the game.
The Saints shot 46 percent from the floor and limited the Statesmen to 37 percent shooting. St. Lawrence made more free throws (16) than Hobart attempted (12), marking just the third time this season that the Statesmen's opponent attempted more free throws than Hobart.
The Statesmen return to conference play on Saturday, Feb. 2, visiting Clarkson (4-14, 3-8) for a 4 p.m. tipoff.
