Statesmen down Violets 5-4

BRONX, N.Y. — The Hobart College tennis team defeated New York University 5-4 this afternoon. The Statesmen are now 10-5 overall this season.
 
Hobart was ranked 33rd in the latest Oracle/ITA Division III Team rankings.
 
The Statesmen led 2-1 at the conclusion of doubles play. Junior Alan Dubrovsky and sophomore Walker Anderson defeated Rahul Das and Zeb Zheng 8-2. Dubrovsky and Anderson are 10-4 in doubles play in the No. 1 spot this season. First-years Thomas Shung and Jack Ledford fell to Benedict Teoh and Lucas Biondi 8-1. Senior Jonathan Atwater and junior Colin Molloy defeated Vishal Walia and Shrikar Kundur 8-2.
 
Molloy clinched the match for the Statesmen in singles play, besting Joshua Piatos 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6. Ledford fell to Biondi 6-4, 6-1. Dubrovsky notched a win in the No. 1 spot over Walia 6-1, 6-1. Dubrovsky is now 21-6 in singles play this season. Anderson fell to Yanik Parsch 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3. Atwater recorded a win in the No. 2 spot over Stefan Rodic 6-2, 6-4. Atwater has won four consecutive matches in singles play. Shung fell at No. 5 to Das, 4-6, 6-5, 3-6.
 
The Statesmen will be back in action, tomorrow, April 14th when they travel to Hoboken, N.J., to face Stevens. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
