POTSDAM, N.Y.-The Hobart College soccer team defeated Potsdam 1-0 in a non-conference contest on Maxcy Turf Field this afternoon. The Statesmen, who are receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, improve to 4-1-0 on the season.

Senior
Tristan Cornell Roberts scored the game's lone goal 11:46 into the game. He collected a pass from junior
Pete Critchlow and slid a shot into the lower right corner of the goal. Junior
Kyle Mangold was also credited with an assist on Cornell Roberts' first goal of the season.

Potsdam (2-3-1) nearly tied the game one minute later but Teddy Bruschini's shot was turned aside by
Brian Salazar.

The Statesmen turned up the pressure in the second half, outshooting Potsdam 14-2 in the final 45 minutes. Hobart had a chance to double its lead in the 74th minute, but first-year
Lucas Montero's shot from 20-yards out was stopped by a diving Conor Callan. Senior
Nate Cary had a scoring chance in the 87th minute that was also turned aside by Callan.

The Statesmen dominated the stat sheet this evening, outshooting the Bears 23-5. Hobart held a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Salazar played all 90 minutes in goal for the Statesmen, making four saves as he posted his second shutout of the season. Callan started in goal for the Bears and made seven saves.

Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 14, when it welcomes Geneseo to Cozzens Field. The game will start a four-game homestand for the Statesmen.
