Statesmen soccer welcomes back alumni this weekend

The Hobart College soccer team will host Rochester in a non-conference contest this Saturday. This weekend will serve as the Statesmen's annual alumni weekend. Hobart, which is receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, is 6-1-0 overall. The Statesmen are off to their best start since 2011 when they were 7-0-0 through the first seven games of the season.

Former Statesmen will play their alumni game on St. Clair Field on Saturday at 10 a.m. Following the alumni game, Hobart will take on Rochester at 2 p.m. on Cozzens Field.  Postgame, there will be a reception at Eddie O'Brien's.

Hobart is led by junior Liam Born. The native of Amsterdam, Netherlands, has three goals and six points. Juniors Pete Critchlow (1g, 3a) and Kyle Mangold (2g, 1a) are right behind him with five points each. Both of Mangold's goals have been game winners. Senior Brian Salazar has played all but eight minutes in goal this season. He is 6-1-0 with three shutouts. Salazar has a 0.56 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. Salazar's save percentage leads the Liberty League and is 15th in the nation.

Rochester brings a 4-2-0 overall record into tomorrow's game. After dropping two games to start the season, the Yellowjackets have rattled off four straight victories. Caden Dowd leads the team with two goals and four points. Nate Lopold is right behind him with three points (1g, 1a). Hugh Carter has played every minute in goal. He is 4-2-0 with a .692 save percentage and a 0.79 GAA.

Saturday's contest is the 67th meeting all-time between Hobart and Rochester. The Yellowjackets lead the series 34-21-11, including a 13-11-6 edge in Geneva. Nine of the last 10 meetings have been decided by one goal.

Fans unable to make it to Cozzens Field this weekend can follow the action with Live Stats and All-Access Video. The games will also be broadcast live on WHWS-FM.
