The William Smith College soccer team will open Liberty League play this week with a pair of games. The Herons, who are ranked fourth in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll and seventh in the D3soccer.com poll, will travel to Rochester, N.Y., tomorrow, Sept. 25, to take on RIT at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 28, William Smith will host Skidmore at 3 p.m. as a part of Homecoming and Family Weekend.

The Herons are 4-1-1 overall this season and are looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season. William Smith was edged by Rochester 1-0 last Saturday.

The Herons are led by a trio of players with two goals each. First-year
Seneca Blakely-Armitage has a team-leading five points (2g, 1a) while juniors
Maialen Martinez and
Merilyn Hinrichs have each scored twice. Sophomore
Amanda Kesler has played every minute in goal. She has a 0.31 goals against average and a .857 save percentage. Kesler ranks 17th in the nation in goals against average.

The Tigers are 4-2-0 overall and are coming off a 2-1 victory over Fredonia on Saturday. Abbey Saia leads the team with nine points on four goals and an assist. Mia White is right behind her with eight points (3g, 2a). Alyssa Salls has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She is 4-1-0 with a 0.80 GAA and a .840 save percentage.

Wednesday will be the 42nd meeting between William Smith and RIT. The Herons are 39-0-2 all-time against the Tigers, including an 18-0-1 mark in Rochester. The teams met twice in 2018 with William Smith claiming 1-0 victories in both matches.

Skidmore brings a 4-1-2 record into the week. The Thoroughbreds will take on Sage this evening. A trio of players lead Skidmore with three goals. Yasmine Boukari has a team best nine points (3g, 3a). Carly Craft and Emily Vinick have seven points each (3g, 1a). Ava Keller and Vivian Montgomery-Walsh have split time in goal. Keller is 4-1-1 with a 0.81 GAA and a .833 save percentage. Montgomery-Walsh is 0-0-1 with a 1.27 GAA and a .800 save percentage.

Saturday's match will be the 35th all-time meeting between William Smith and Skidmore. The Herons lead the series 28-1-5, including a 17-0-2 mark in Geneva. William Smith won 1-0 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., last year.
