#6 Hobart heads to Vermont for NEHC tilts

The sixth-ranked Hobart College hockey team will wrap up a four-game road trip in Vermont this weekend, Jan. 24-25. On Friday, the Statesmen will take on Castleton at 7 p.m. Hobart will then travel to take on second-ranked Norwich on Saturday at 4 p.m.
 
The Statesmen improved to 11-3-3 overall and 5-3-2 in the New England Hockey Conference with a 1-0-1 weekend at Suffolk and Johnson & Wales. On Friday, the Statesmen and the Rams skated to a 4-4 tie. Sophomore Zach Tyson led the way for Hobart, netting a pair of goals. Hobart bounced back with a 10-3 win over the Wildcats on Saturday. The Statesmen broke the game open with five goals in the third period.
 
Hobart enters the week ranked among the nation's best in scoring margin (6th, +2.18 gpg), scoring offense (7th, 4.41 gpg), winning percentage (12th, .735), penalty kill (14th, 86.8%), and scoring defense (16th, 2.24 gpg). The Statesmen have spread the offense around this season with 20 different players recording a goal and 24 notching at least a point this season.
 
Individually, the Statesmen are led by junior Alec Robitaille's nine goals and 17 points. Senior Lawson MacDougall is right behind him with 14 points on five goals and nine assists. Junior Mike Faulkner has a team-high 10 assists. Sophomore Joe Halstrom has played a majority of the minutes in goal. He is 9-3-3 with a 2.16 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.
 
Castleton brings a 5-11-2 overall record and a 3-7-1 mark in conference play into the weekend. The Spartans are scoring 2.56 goals per game while allowing 4.22. Castleton was edged by Southern Maine 2-0 last Saturday. The Spartans are led by Glenn Wiswell's 16 points on seven goals and nine assists. Troy Taylor has a team best 11 assists. Brandon Collett has played a majority of the minutes in goal. He is 3-8-1 with a 4.31 GAA and a .902 save percentage.
 
Friday's game will be the seventh meeting between Hobart and Castleton. The Statesmen lead the all-time series 6-0-0.
 
Norwich is 14-2-2 overall and 9-1-1 in the NEHC. The Cadets will host Skidmore on Friday. Norwich enters the week scoring 3.17 goals per game while surrendering a mere 1.22, fewest in the nation. The Cadets are unbeaten in their last eight games. Felix Brassard leads the team with 20 points on 13 goals and seven assists. Gabriel Chicoine has a team-leading 12 assists. Tom Aubrun has played a majority of the minutes in goal for Norwich, posting a 13-2-2 overall record. He is third in the nation with a 1.11 GAA and a .954 save percentage.
 
Saturday's game will be the 11th meeting between Hobart and Norwich. The Cadets hold a slight 5-4-1 edge in the series. The Statesmen are 4-3-0 in Northfield, Vt.
