KEUKA PARK, N.Y.—The William Smith College basketball team dominated the second quarter on the way to a 70-45 win over Keuka College tonight. The Herons caught fire in the pivotal frame, shooting 53 percent from the floor to outscore the Wolves 25-9 in the 10 minutes before halftime.

William Smith sophomore Olivia Parisi led all scorers with 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting. She also grabbed nine rebounds and came up with a game-high three steals. First-year Lauren DeVaney and junior Stavriana Dimitrakopoulou each posted double-doubles for the Herons. Returning to the court for the first time in 27 days, William Smith took a while to shake off the rust. The Herons missed their first 11 shots from the floor and trailed 7-0 five minutes into the game. Parisi snapped the visitors out of their funk with an old fashion 3-point play. William Smith came roaring back to tie the game at nine with under two minutes left in the first quarter. Parisi had nine of the Herons 11 first quarter points.

In the second quarter, Keuka's Riley Record hit a jumper near the six-minute mark to pull Keuka within one, 18-17. William Smith countered with the game's next 11 points, including seven in a row by Dimitrakopoulou followed by a 4-0 run by Parisi. Record stopped the Wolves' scoreless drought with a 3-pointer with under three minutes to go to halftime, but the Herons scored the final seven points before halftime, taking a 36-20 lead into the break.

William Smith maintained a double digit lead throughout the second half, keeping its advantage at 15 or more in the third quarter while enjoying a 20-point edge all through the fourth quarter.

Keuka (4-4) shot 30 percent from the floor in the game, making 3-of-7 at the line. Record led the Wolves with 17 points. Samantha Laranjo added 15 points.
